HR Officer: Aylesbury: November 2026 Start

HR Officer: Maternity Cover

Are you an experienced HR professional looking for your next opportunity within an education setting?

Do you have strong knowledge of HR processes, recruitment, and employee relations, with excellent attention to detail?

A forward-thinking girls' grammar school in Aylesbury is looking for an experienced and proactive HR Officer to join their team on a maternity cover basis from November 2026.

HR Officer: The Role

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee the day-to-day HR operations within the school, providing advice and guidance while supporting the continued development of effective HR policies and processes.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Managing the Single Central Record (SCR) and ensuring safeguarding and pre-employment checks are maintained
  • Supporting the full recruitment process, including advertising, shortlisting, interviews, references, and right-to-work checks
  • Managing employment contracts, changes to terms and conditions, and personnel records
  • Monitoring staff absence and managing leave of absence processes
  • Supporting employee relations and staff wellbeing
  • Liaising with Finance and Payroll to ensure employee information is accurate and up to date
  • Supporting HR policy updates and maintaining the Staff Handbook
  • Coordinating new starter processes, offers, contracts, and staff induction
  • Providing HR reports and key workforce information to senior stakeholders and Governors
  • Supporting staff learning and development and identifying training needs

HR Officer: The Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is highly organized, proactive, and confident, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • CIPD Level 3 or relevant HR experience is essential, alongside a good understanding of employment legislation, employee relations, recruitment, and HR processes.
  • Previous experience within a school or education setting would be beneficial. You will also need to be comfortable handling confidential employee information and working with a high level of discretion.
