Job overview

My client, an established UK manufacturer based in Dudley, is looking for an ambitious and practical HR & People Officer to help strengthen and develop its in-house People function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has gained a foundation in HR and is ready to take greater ownership of day-to-day people activity. It would particularly suit someone who holds, or is working towards, the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice and wants a role offering genuine responsibility, professional mentoring and a structured pathway towards Level 5 capability.

The initial work will be hands-on, ensuring that essential HR records, processes and activities are organised and consistently maintained. As your knowledge and confidence develop, you will have the opportunity to become involved in broader employee relations, manager coaching, workforce planning and organisational development activity.

This is not simply an HR administration role. My client is looking for someone who wants to understand the business, build trusted relationships and develop into a confident and well-rounded HR professional.

Working pattern

For the first two months, the successful candidate will work full-time, Monday to Friday, from 7.30am to 4.00pm. This initial period will allow you to learn the business, build relationships and establish the core HR processes.

From month three, the role will move to a permanent part-time pattern of 25 hours per week, working Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 2.00pm.

The role is fully site-based in Dudley.

Salary - £28,000–£35,000 full-time equivalent, depending on experience and capability. The salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis when the role moves to the permanent 25-hour working pattern.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Previous experience within manufacturing or an SME would be helpful but is not essential. Attitude, learning agility, confidentiality and practical judgement are equally important.
