HR & Payroll Assistant
Location: Denton - Greater Manchester - onsite
Salary: £30,000
Permanent | Full-Time

Medlock Partners are delighted to be working with a leading organisation to recruit a HR & Payroll Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy, operational environment and is confident managing payroll administration alongside a broad range of HR responsibilities.
Working closely with the HR team and Payroll Manager, this team are brilliant and you will love working alongside them and playing a key role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while also providing a first-class HR administration service across the business.
The Role
As the HR & Payroll Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for HR and payroll-related queries, building strong relationships with employees and managers across the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing first-line HR support to employees and managers.
- Preparing and issuing offer letters and employment contracts.
- Supporting the employee exit and leaver process.
- Assisting with recruitment administration and updating relevant systems.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems.
- Working closely with the Payroll Manager and wider HR team to ensure payroll and people processes are aligned.
- Supporting the communication of HR processes and policies in a clear, consistent and practical way.
- Acting as the first point of contact for payroll queries.
- Working closely with Operations and managers to gather, check and validate timesheet information.
- Inputting payroll data accurately and ensuring all information is complete and submitted within strict deadlines.
- Supporting payroll cut-off activities, peak periods and key payment arrangements, including overtime and Christmas working payments.
- Building strong relationships with managers to improve data quality, communication and payroll processes.
- Acting as an important link between Operations, Payroll and HR.

About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, approachable and confident working with people at all levels. You will have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable working to tight deadlines, particularly when dealing with payroll information.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within payroll administration, HR administration or a similar role.
- Experience working with payroll and/or HR systems.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build effective relationships with managers and employees.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with good judgement and common sense.
- The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Experience working in a busy, operational environment would be advantageous.
- Experience of Sage and/or Workday would be beneficial, although not essential.
