Recruitment Advisor
Salary range: £38,218 to £41,786 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role
The recruitment advisor will play a key role in delivering efficient, compliant and high-quality recruitment processes that are reflective of the ethos and values of the school.
Working closely with the recruitment manager, the postholder will independently manage a portfolio of recruitment campaigns from vacancy approval through to onboarding, while supporting the delivery of recruitment projects, process improvements and reporting initiatives. The recruitment advisor will act as a trusted partner to hiring managers, ensuring a seamless, warm and welcoming candidate experience and robust compliance, in line with the school’s policies and standard operating procedures.
This is a full-time, all-year-round position, based on a 40-hour working week.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and selection
- Manage end-to-end recruitment campaigns for designated vacancies, from advertising through to appointment and onboarding
- Develop and deliver proactive sourcing strategies to attract high-calibre candidates across teaching and professional services roles, utilising job boards, professional networks, talent pools, social media and direct search techniques
- Conduct vacancy briefing meetings with hiring managers to understand requirements and recruitment priorities
- Draft job descriptions, person specifications, adverts and recruitment communications
- Create and manage advertisements across approved recruitment platforms and monitor campaign effectiveness
- Coordinate interview processes, ensuring a professional and positive experience for candidates and panel members
- Deliver seamless and professional candidate communications throughout the recruitment process, ensuring timely, warm and professional correspondence
- Support internal recruitment process ensuring fairness and transparency
Safer recruitment and compliance
- Ensure all recruitment activity comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) requirements, employment legislation and school policies
- Complete pre-employment checks, including enhanced DBS checks, references, right to work, qualification verification, medical clearances and overseas checks as applicable
- Record and file all recruitment documentation to ensure compliance and consistency across all appointments
- Maintain accurate recruitment records in accordance with GDPR and the school’s retention schedules
- Support the maintenance and auditing of the Single Central Record (SCR), identifying and escalating any compliance concerns

Onboarding and induction
- Deliver a streamlined onboarding process from offer acceptance through to commencement of employment for assigned vacancies
- Liaise with candidates, hiring managers and internal departments to ensure a smooth transition into the school
- Coordinate onboarding arrangements, ensuring all required documentation, access permissions and systems are in place before start dates
- Monitor onboarding completion rates and proactively resolve delays or issues
- Gather feedback from new starters and contribute to continuous improvement of onboarding and induction processes
Recruitment projects and continuous improvement
- Support the Recruitment Manager in delivering recruitment improvement projects and strategic initiatives
- Support employer branding initiatives and recruitment marketing activities
- Contribute to the development of recruitment resources, templates, guidance materials and manager toolkits
Data, Reporting & Systems
- Maintain accurate recruitment and onboarding data within HR and recruitment systems
- Produce and monitor regular recruitment reports and dashboards, including metrics such as time-to-hire, vacancy status and offer acceptance rates
- Analyse recruitment trends and provide insights to support decision making
- Ensure recruitment records and documentation are accurate, complete and audit-ready
General Responsibilities
- Build positive working relationships with hiring managers
- Provide first-line advice and guidance on recruitment processes and procedures
- Support wider HR activities and projects as required
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law, safeguarding requirements and recruitment best practice
- Uphold and promote the school’s commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level and nature of the role
Person specification:
Essential
- Graduate degree, CIPD qualification, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience of recruitment within a busy environment
- Strong understanding of safer recruitment requirements and pre-employment screening processes.
- Experience administering DBS checks, references, right to work checks and other employment compliance processes.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to deliver on multiple recruitment campaigns simultaneously
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience using HR systems, applicant tracking systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

- Experience working within an independent school, education setting or other regulated environment.
