HR Team Leader (Administration)

Sector: Public and Not-for-Profit
Duration: 3 Months, with a possible extension
Location: Cambridgeshire (2 days a week)
Rate: up to £350 UMB per day (Dependent on experience)

Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Team Leader to join our client based in Cambridgeshire, this role is offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days a week onsite.

About the Role

The HR Team Leader is responsible for leading the delivery of a high-quality, efficient and customer-focused HR administration service. The role oversees the day-to-day operation of the HR Administration team, ensuring accurate management of employee records, HR processes and transactional activities across the employee lifecycle.

Working closely with managers, employees and the wider HR team, the postholder will drive service excellence, maintain compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies, support continuous improvement initiatives, and develop a high-performing administration team that contributes to the organisation's people objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the HR Administration team, ensuring the delivery of an efficient, accurate and customer-focused HR support service.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the HR Administration function, ensuring workloads are effectively prioritised and service standards are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee all aspects of employee lifecycle administration, including onboarding, contractual changes, promotions and leavers.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and organisational standards.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for complex HR administration queries, providing expert guidance and timely resolution of issues.
  • Review, develop and implement HR processes and procedures, driving continuous improvement and enhancing service delivery.
  • Produce and analyse HR reports, data and management information to support workforce planning and informed decision-making.
  • Conduct regular audits of employee records and HR data to ensure accuracy, compliance and data integrity.
  • Ensure HR administration activities are compliant with employment legislation, organisational policies and governance requirements.
  • Monitor team performance, identifying development needs and supporting continuous improvement within the service.
  • Support the induction, training and ongoing development of HR Administration team members, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Monitor HR administration key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular performance reports for senior management.
  • Oversee the preparation and issuance of employment-related documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Develop, maintain and review HR administration procedures, guidance documents and service standards.
  • Manage and monitor HR inboxes, workflows and case management systems to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, data protection and organisational policies.

  • Proven experience working within a busy HR Administration, HR Operations or People Services environment.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring a team, including allocating workloads and monitoring performance.
  • Significant experience managing employee lifecycle administration, including recruitment, onboarding, contractual changes and leavers.
  • Experience using HR information systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Demonstrable experience ensuring compliance with data protection requirements and handling confidential information appropriately.
  • Experience resolving complex HR administration queries and providing guidance to managers and employees.
  • Experience within the public sector, would be beneficial.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent HR experience.
  • Knowledge of UK Employment Law.

The HR Team Leader will need to have excellent communication skills and effectively be able to communicate to stakeholders of all levels. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have an impeccable eye for detail and accuracy to ensure all workload is carried out effectively and efficiently. They will also need to able to prioritise their workload and be efficient and effective to meet unpredictable deadlines and deal with conflicting demands, whilst working in a high-pressured environment.
