Join us as a Senior Professional HV Cables Project Manager within Siemens Energy’s Grid Technologies division in the United Kingdom. In this pivotal role, you will ensure business continuity by successfully executing complex high-voltage cable projects that are essential to our substation business unit’s objectives. Imagine leading comprehensive end-to-end project management efforts while maintaining diligent financial oversight and managing risks, quality, and safety. You will be at the forefront of ensuring that all technical, budgetary, and compliance aspects of HV cable projects are effectively managed from inception to completion, making a significant impact on our operations.

How You’ll Make a Difference

  • End-to-End Project Execution (50%):

    • Lead the planning, execution, and closure of high-voltage (HV) cable projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocations using standard project management tools.
    • Coordinate and direct project teams, including internal staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure cohesive project delivery.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, managing communications and providing regular progress reports.
  • Financial and Commercial Management (30%):

    • Manage the entire project budget, including cost forecasting, expenditure tracking, invoicing, and financial reporting.
    • Oversee procurement and contract management activities, including supplier negotiation and administration of commercial terms.
    • Identify, assess, and manage project-related commercial risks and opportunities, including scope changes and variations.

  • Risk, Quality, and Safety Oversight (20%):
    • Implement robust risk management strategies to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential threats to project success.
    • Ensure all project deliverables and processes adhere to internal quality standards, client specifications, and relevant industry regulations.
    • Enforce strict health and safety protocols across all project sites and activities, promoting a culture of safety excellence.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline equivalent would be preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing complex technical projects, specifically in the high-voltage (HV) power systems, cables, or substation industry.
  • Typically 5-8 years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive responsibility in a project management capacity.
  • Certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) and PRINCE2 Practitioner.
  • Strong skills in project and process management, risk management, procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and negotiation.
