About the opportunity:
Our Defence and Security provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. Our team is experiencing exciting growth and long-term prospects within our established practice, and we are looking for an HV Designer/Power Systems Engineer to design large industrial facilities, e.g. power station buildings, large manufacturing facilities, dockyards, etc. If this sounds like you, we want to speak with you.
We offer hybrid working with 1-2 days in the Glasgow or Reading office. Occasional site visits may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs the assessment and design and monitors ongoing process of a project, including the coordination of the project with project delivery team.
- Leading/working with a team of Electrical engineers/designers in developing/reviewing engineering deliverables throughout various stages of the project.
- Carrying out site surveys/condition assessments to determine requirements.
- Experience in utility diversions.
- Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of HV/LV systems and equipment for industrial and commercial applications.
- Design of associated control and protection systems, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical interfaces.
- Prepare plans and drawings, functional and technical specifications, and contract documents.
- Works with Clients and project team members.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the electrical engineering discipline up to 11kV and interfacing with 33kV.
- Experience in HV generation/distribution systems and associated control and protection systems.
- Experience in HV/LV network design and analysis and using industry standard software tools (ETAP/AMTECH).
- Experience in preparing technical reports for electrical designs, with commercial awareness.
- Experience in a contracting environment, relevant site experience.
- Willing to travel and relocation if/when required.
- Good, accredited MEng degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
