Job Description

Transmission Investment is seeking a skilled High Voltage Technician to play a key role in maintaining and supporting both onshore and offshore high-voltage assets across the North of Scotland region. Your Role:

  • Ensuring appropriate Health, Safety & Environmental compliance during all site activities
  • Supervision of contractors and sub-contractors during site activities
  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of the company’s Electrical Safety Rules
  • Conducting planned and unplanned inspections of both offshore and onshore assets
  • Supporting the development of the company’s asset and maintenance policy
  • HV Switching as an Authorised Person.
  • Minor fault finding and electrical installation work
  • Assisting in the development of contingency plans
  • Weekly and monthly reporting to supervisor
  • Provide out of hours response to operational assets on a rota basis.

Location & Travel:

  • Be located within operational response distance of Moray West onshore substation, near Keith, (60-90 minutes)
  • Candidates will need to periodically visit offshore work locations.
  • Candidates may be expected to travel to other destinations in the UK as part of their role and training. TI travel costs will be covered by our Expenses policy

We're Looking for:

  • Qualified to technician level in an electrical discipline (ONC / NVQ L3)
  • Have 5 years+ industry experience ideally in the UK electricity supply industry / offshore wind industry.
  • Have a good understanding of health and safety legislation and how it relates to personal responsibilities.
  • Have experience working with high voltage electrical system components, plant and equipment;
  • Experienced supervisor of contractors and sub-contractors
  • Ability to hold operational authorisations enabling you to act as an Authorised / Competent person at the level required for the role;

Skills & Attributes:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices and risk assessment procedures;
  • Have a good understanding of health and safety legislation and how it relates to personal responsibilities;
  • Possession of GWO offshore certification, or capability to achieve certification (training will be provided) as well as the capability to pass an offshore medical certification.
  • Be able to supervise contractors / sub-contractors;

Founded in 2011, Transmission Investment manages one of the largest offshore electricity transmission portfolios globally, connecting over 4,000MW of offshore wind from eleven GB wind farms. Our team of over 40 experts specialises in project development, engineering, regulation, construction, asset management, finance, and mergers & acquisitions.

In addition to the development of the 700MW interconnector (LirIC) between Northern Ireland and Scotland, we are currently managing a synchronous compensator at Blackhillock, Scotland. We also aim to participate in competitive onshore transmission auctions (CATO).
