A little more about the role...
Providing expertise in mechanical building services engineering; with particular emphasis on the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and process related industries.
Establishing client requirements and delivering engineering design solutions. Applying technical expertise to investigations, feasibility studies, concept and scheme designs, detailed design and construction support phase of projects.
The role is likely to involve some assignments to client sites, either working jointly with the client’s design team or supporting WSP construction activities. The site assignments can involve project engineering and coordination as well as building services and HVAC systems design.
Core Functions:
- Delivering Mechanical Building Services design solutions to meet project needs
- To operate as Lead Building Services Engineer, controlling technical delivery, costs, changes and programme at all stages of projects
- Design, engineering, calculations
- Supervise the work of designers and engineers
- Co-ordination with all other disciplines
- Preparation of cost estimates
- Preparation and maintenance of man-hour and resources forecasts
- Preparation of/input to design programmes
- Providing support to site construction operations
- Contributing to the body of expertise within the building services department, particularly in the areas of cleanrooms, and sustainability / low carbon solutions
- Reviewing designs & proposals for conformance with applicable regulatory standards, policies, and codes of practice
- Comply with the company’s quality and safety procedures

Key Interfaces:
- Client: obtaining and presenting design information, working jointly with the clients project teams on technical solutions and project coordination / project engineering
- Design team: working within a multi-discipline team
- Sales team: providing support for proposals
- Project manager: day to day liaison with the project manager
- Site team: providing technical support throughout the project
- Department: maintaining quality, technical support
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate..
Practical knowledge and experience in the design and commissioning of mechanical building services systems, including some or all of the following:
- HVAC for critical environments including pharmaceutical & biopharmaceutical clean rooms
- cGMP and validation requirements
- Clean room construction
- Energy efficiency
- Specialist equipment
- Building management systems
- Cold storage facilities
- Clean utilities
- General utility systems
- Fire protection systems
- Production facilities
- Laboratory & research facilities
- Regulatory standards, including Building Regulations, etc.

Qualifications:
- CEng (desirable or working towards)
- Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
