HVAC Engineer

Location: Gateshead
Salary: £43,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 06:00 – 14:30
Contract Type: Permanent
Sector: Facilities Management

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HVAC Engineer to join a facilities management team working within a large distribution centre in Gateshead.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled HVAC professional to join a stable, site-based role with a leading facilities management provider. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of HVAC systems and associated building services, ensuring the site remains operational, safe, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs across heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment
  • Service, inspect, and maintain HVAC plant and associated mechanical systems
  • Maintain and repair AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, pumps, valves, and associated equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns and carry out effective fault finding to minimise disruption to site operations
  • Complete maintenance records, job sheets, and reports accurately
  • Work closely with the wider engineering team and site management to ensure service levels are maintained
  • Ensure all works are completed safely and in line with health & safety procedures and site requirements

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as an HVAC Engineer within a commercial, industrial, or FM environment
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including air conditioning, ventilation, and mechanical plant
  • Experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance
  • Ability to fault find, diagnose, and resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Good understanding of building services and maintenance environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently on site

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services
  • F-Gas qualification essential
  • Relevant HVAC/refrigeration qualifications desirable
