Job Title: HVAC Engineer
Location: RAF Croughton (with occasional travel to Barford St Johns) Contract: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM) Salary: £40,000–£44,000 (depending on experience)
About the Role
Are you ready to take your HVAC career to the next level? We’re seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC Engineer to join our team at RAF Croughton. This is not just maintenance—it’s an opportunity to support critical defence infrastructure, working with advanced systems in a professional and purpose-driven environment.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you’ll collaborate with a team of two HVAC engineers but will predominantly work independently, requiring strong problem-solving and confidence. The role demands reliability, punctuality, and self-motivation, along with effective communication for client interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Core Tasks
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of HVAC systems in both commercial and domestic buildings on-site.
- Execute tasks sourced from PDA (Planned Defects Agreement) or paper-based job sheets, adhering to a scheduled workload for efficient delivery.
- Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and complete minor installation and refurbishment works as required.
- Ensure high standards of Health and Safety, including:
- Validating RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) before work begins.
- Compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurrences).
- Maintain all documentation (repair logs, reports) accurately and adhere to performance KPIs within agreed timelines.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work collaboratively with the wider operations team as needed.
- Report directly to the Technical Services Manager.
- Engage with:
- Military personnel
- DIO (Defence Infrastructure Organisation) representatives
- Supply chain partners
- Deliver consistently high service standards in a defence environment.
Requirements
Essential
- Relevant qualification: City & Guilds in Air Conditioning (or equivalent).
- F-Gas Category 1 qualification.
- Experience in safely handling refrigerants.
- Strong practical experience in HVAC maintenance and repairs, including an understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
- Full UK driving licence (mandatory for site access roles).
- Reliability, punctuality, and self-motivation.
- Clear communication skills with team members and clients.
- A hydrocarbon refrigerant qualification is not required but desirable.

Advantageous
- Previous experience in commercial environments or MOD facilities.
- Familiarity with JSP 375 (military regulations).
- Additional First Aid or Health and Safety certifications.
- Exposure to defence sector procurement processes or security-cleared environments.

- Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be eligible for Security Clearance (this will be assessed).
