HVAC TECHNICIAN - CRITICAL ENVIRONMENT
Location: Docklands, London
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, Days
Employment Type: Permanent
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HVAC Technician to join a leading facilities management team operating within a mission-critical data centre environment in Docklands.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC / Mechanical Engineer looking to develop their career within the data centre sector, working on critical cooling and building services infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of HVAC and mechanical systems, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably within a highly critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs and remedial works.
- Maintain critical cooling and ventilation infrastructure.
- Carry out routine inspections, testing and operational checks.
- Work on AHUs, FCUs, CRAC/CRAH units and associated equipment.
- Support maintenance of chillers and chilled water systems.
- Maintain pumps, motors, valves and associated mechanical plant.
- Monitor BMS and respond to HVAC-related alarms.
- Assist with temperature, pressure and system performance checks.
- Identify potential equipment failures and escalate appropriately.
- Work alongside electrical and critical facilities engineers.
- Coordinate with specialist contractors when required.
- Complete maintenance documentation and service reports.
- Follow site-specific SOPs, RAMS, Permit to Work and LOTO procedures.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health & safety and operational requirements.
- Support emergency response and critical incident procedures where required.

Technical Environment
The successful candidate will ideally have experience working with some or all of the following:
- CRAC / CRAH units
- AHUs and FCUs
- Chillers
- Chilled water systems
- Pumps and motors
- Cooling towers
- DX / refrigeration systems
- HVAC controls
- BMS
- Valves and associated mechanical systems
- General building services

About You
We're looking for an experienced HVAC / Mechanical Engineer with a background within a data centre, critical environment, commercial, industrial or similarly complex facility.
You should have:
- Previous experience as an HVAC Technician, Mechanical Technician, HVAC Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or similar.
- Strong HVAC and mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience with planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working with critical cooling systems.
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work.
- Experience working to RAMS and Permit to Work procedures.
- Relevant HVAC / Mechanical qualifications.
- F-Gas certification would be advantageous.
- A proactive approach to maintenance and fault resolution.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a technical team.
