About the role

At National Grid, we're building the energy systems of the future. As we accelerate the transition to a cleaner, greener energy network, we're investing in the infrastructure, technology and partnerships needed to deliver Net Zero. That's where you come in.

We're looking for an ambitious and strategically minded HVDC Procurement Business Partner to help shape the future of one of the most critical areas of our energy transformation programme.

This is a unique opportunity to influence how National Grid plans, procures and delivers major HVDC infrastructure projects, ensuring we stay ahead of evolving market challenges and supply chain constraints. Whether your background is in strategy, procurement, engineering, commercial management or data analysis, if you're passionate about solving complex challenges and delivering long-term value, we'd love to hear from you.

The role is hybrid with our office based in Warwick so you can enjoy working from home and office.

What you'll do

As a HVDC Business Strategy Partner, you'll act as a trusted advisor to both our business and procurement teams, helping to shape procurement and supply chain strategies that support some of the UK's most significant energy projects.

You'll combine market intelligence, strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement to drive informed decision-making, identify opportunities and mitigate risks across our HVDC portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and enhancing category strategies for HVDC equipment and services, translating market insights into clear and actionable plans.
  • Providing forward-looking supply chain intelligence, including supplier capacity, lead times and market developments, to support effective planning and forecasting.
  • Partnering with engineering, project, commercial and finance teams to align delivery plans with procurement strategies and business priorities.
  • Supporting portfolio and project governance activities by providing strategic insight into supply chain readiness, risk and deliverability.
  • Producing high-quality analysis, presentations and recommendations that simplify complex information and support executive-level decision making.
  • Contributing to the growth and development of the wider category team by fostering strategic thinking, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
