Job Overview
Join AECOM’s UK&I Water Resources Team, responsible for delivering hydraulic modelling projects across the UK. Based in Bristol, this role integrates into a dynamic, fast-growing team of 100+ engineers and consultants, tackling projects from small-scale local片渎poroval. Séčí́unung grows projects to nationally significant infrastructure solutions.
As a Consultant Hydraulic Modeller, you will take ownership of flood risk and water management projects while mentoring junior team members. This hybrid role combines office flexibility with client-focused fieldwork, wherever AECOM operates.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead 1D-2D hydraulic modelling for fluvial, surface water, and tidal flooding assessments.
- Deliver Flood Risk Assessments, hydrological analyses, flood defence designs, strategic water planning, and Environmental Statements.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary modelling projects.
- Ensure high-standard technical deliverables, adhering to fixed budgets and timelines.
- Enact a collaborative leadership approach by coaching graduate team members.
- Work closely with senior modellers and cross-functional teams to execute robust technical solutions.

Requirements
Essential:
- Undergraduate degree (minimum 2:1 classification) in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience applying 1D/2D hydraulic modelling (using Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, or InfoWorks ICM) within water consulting.
- Strong GIS knowledge (experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, or MapInfo essential).
- Track record delivering Flood Risk Assessment reports and water resources projects.
- Demonstrable experience liaising with regulators and public/private sector stakeholders.
- Technical autonomy with a strong work ethic and passion for iterative, deadline-driven teams.
- Commitment to maintaining my Chartered professional status (active membership or pursuit of Chartership ICE/CIWEM advantageous).
Desirable:
- Postgraduate training (MSc/PhD) in civil/drainage/hydrology.
- Preferable prior work on Flood Risk Assessments and familiarity with hydrological flow estimation (WINFAP-FEH/ReFH2).
