Hygiene Manager - 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced Hygiene Manager to join our team at Glenbervie on a 6-month fixed term contract.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, working permanent night shift 10:00pm-6:00am.

Shift Allowance:

  • An 8.5% night shift allowance is paid in addition to the advertised base salary.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Head of Technical, you'll lead our Hygiene Team and play a key role in ensuring our site, plant, and production environment are maintained to the highest hygiene standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for ensuring hygiene schedules are completed effectively through forward planning, effective deployment of resources, and strong team leadership. You'll work closely with colleagues across Operations, Production, and our Quality and Technical teams to ensure our required food safety, quality, hygiene, safety, and environmental standards are consistently achieved.

You'll also have the opportunity to review how we currently work, identify areas for improvement, and help drive best practice across our hygiene processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and supporting the Hygiene Team to ensure hygiene schedules are completed effectively and to the required standard
  • Planning and deploying resources to ensure hygiene requirements are met across the site
  • Ensuring cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and agreed methods of operation are understood and consistently followed
  • Communicating hygiene requirements and any changes to hygiene plans effectively across relevant teams and shifts
  • Ensuring food safety, legality, quality, health & safety, and environmental requirements are maintained
  • Reviewing current hygiene methods, procedures, and equipment and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Ensuring hygiene practices remain aligned with legislation, customer requirements, and industry best practice
  • Promoting high standards across the site, including our "clean as you go" approach
  • Building strong working relationships across Operations, Production, Quality, and Technical teams

Requirements

We're looking for someone who can confidently lead a team in a busy food manufacturing environment and who understands the importance of maintaining consistently high hygiene and food safety standards.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working within a food manufacturing environment as part of a hygiene team
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience would be desirable
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety standards and compliance
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and deploy resources effectively
  • The ability to lead, influence, and motivate others
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective relationships across different teams
  • Flexibility to support the needs of the business
