Hygiene Operative
Location: Hainault, London
Salary: £35,689 per annum
Shift: Monday to Saturday
Shift Times: 6:00am – 3:00pm
Some flexibility may be required during busier periods, but any changes will always be discussed with reasonable notice.
About the Role
Join our dedicated team at Select Meats, where maintaining exceptional hygiene and cleanliness standards is essential to supporting safe and efficient operations. Based in Hainault, we’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Hygiene Operative to help ensure all production and office areas are maintained to the highest possible standard. You’ll play a key role in keeping our working environment clean, safe and fully compliant with hygiene regulations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Industrial Cleaning: Carrying out deep cleaning of production areas, machinery, equipment, floors, walls and work surfaces to a very high hygiene standard.
- Office Cleaning: Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across office spaces, communal areas and welfare facilities.
- Pressure Washing: Using pressure washing equipment when required to clean external and internal industrial areas effectively.
- Maintaining Hygiene Standards: Ensuring all cleaning duties are completed thoroughly and in line with company hygiene and food safety procedures.
- Safe Use of Cleaning Chemicals: Handling cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and responsibly at all times.
- Working Independently & as Part of a Team: Completing tasks efficiently with minimal supervision while supporting colleagues when needed.
- Reporting Issues: Reporting any maintenance concerns, hazards or hygiene issues promptly to management.
- Following Health & Safety Procedures: Wearing appropriate PPE and adhering to all company health, safety and hygiene policies.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in industrial cleaning, hygiene operations or a similar cleaning role is preferred.
- Ability to maintain very high hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Comfortable carrying out physically demanding tasks and working in industrial environments.
- Experience using pressure washing equipment is beneficial.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work well within a team.
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe chemical handling procedures.
