Job Overview
Trust Systems has rapid growth ambitions and provides a portfolio of solutions across networks, traditional infrastructure, hosted/on premise cloud and multi-cloud solutions.
As part of the growth plans for the service, and as part of the customer success, Trust Systems has created a new position within the team.
The Cloud & Infrastructure Consultant will be part of the Trust Cloud team reporting to the Head of Cloud Services. The role will fulfil service design, deployment and support for customers looking at across a spectrum of virtualisation technologies onto Trust Cloud solutions. Additionally, the role and be required to assist within the wider Trust Services operational arena, supporting existing infrastructure solution upgrades, and in a 3rd/4th line capacity. This will be working alongside the managed services team as a third line support lead for more complex issues.
The role will require solid VMWare and Hyper-V skills and Trust is looking for an outgoing, self-starter, who has the appetite and drive to develop knowledge in Scale Computing HCI, Zadara zCompute (our multi-tenant Enterprise Class Cloud platform) and other platforms.
Location
The role will be classed as ‘work from home’, and it is anticipated that the work will be based on a split between customer sites predominantly in the South/Mid UK, with working from home when not on customer sites. Our existing consultants work against an approximate 70/30 split with 70% being remote working, however onsite work can vary according to projects and client demand.
Skills/Technology
Primary Skills
The candidate suited to this role would need to have skillsets in the following:
- Solid and proven virtualisation skills across both VMWare and Hyper-V
- Ideally HCI experience, focus is Scale Computing & Nutanix
- Implementation of VMware ESXi/vCenter & Hyper-V (on premise) systems, including supporting components, single and multi-site, with backup & disaster recovery solution knowledge an advantage
- In depth knowledge and experience in complex migrations across VMWare & Hyper-V environments
- Server & Storage Hardware knowledge, ideally with some degree of support, including configuration, firmware management, out of band management, HPE, Dell, ExaGrid product portfolio
- Good general networking understanding, including of (switching) L2, L3, routing, firewalls and switching, (technologies include Mellanox, Cisco and Fortinet), ideally configuration level experience
- Good working knowledge of some of the key holistic datacentre enterprise systems, from servers, networking, firewalls, switching, storage, backup, DR technologies, either management or support roles
- Windows operating environment design, implementation and support, including (but not limited to Active Directory, Group Policies, Windows Remote Desktop services, Windows update, Windows NPS features)
- Knowledge and experience implementing Systems Management toolsets and protocols
- ITIL knowledge and Service Management documentation and design
- Knowledge of Security principles and security hardening
- Good documentation skills, ability to create document templates
- Customer focussed, ability to communicate with the customer at a technical and (high and low) design level
- Able to manage own time, work as part of a team as well as individually, and work under minimal direct supervision – a ‘self-starter’, able to take initiative when needed
- To demonstrate an understanding of Trust Systems ISO certifications and the obligations within this role
- Experience of operating and working within secure locations and within secure network environments

Additional Skills
The following are considered beneficial, but not essential to the role:
- Linux technologies, specifically Red Hat based
- Nutanix skills and experience
- Experience with Zadara zCompute cloud platforms
- Public Cloud technologies – Azure/AWS
- Scripting/Automation skills with toolsets, such as PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform etc
- Backup Technologies (Veeam), design practises, deployment, management
- Experience of Scale Computing HCI solutions
- Worked within and familiar with Service Desk environments
- Ability to cross train and upskill other members of the support team
- Experience working in highly secure Datacenter environments
Although no formal education qualification level has been specified, it would be advantageous for the successful applicant to have either a relevant academic qualification to higher or degree level, or to have comparable industry experience, i.e. having worked within the IT sector for at least 5 years; Not having academic qualifications will not be a barrier to this role, as each candidate will be judged based primarily on experience, skillset etc.
Role Tasks
Working in the Trust Cloud Team
- Deploy and build of new customer solutions and integration into customer networks, data migration
- Technical Acceptance into service of new customers to support, including setting up and testing monitoring and alerting platforms, and service elements
- Maintain all required documentation to required standards
- Produce Low Level Design documentation for new platforms
- Working with customers to analyse solutions in situ, and make recommendations of perform best practise reviews
- Deploy virtual solutions to new or existing designs within existing Trust Cloud platforms
- Deploy virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V and VMWare
- Deploy Windows/Linux servers or other appliances to meet design requirements, to best practises such as security standards
- Be familiar with good security protocols and standards, such as working with PKI solutions
- Deploy management servers for Trust Cloud, both physical and virtual, including management tools, and configuring management protocols on newly deployed devices
- Testing of deployed platforms

Operational Support Tasks
Working in conjunction with, and as part of the Trust Service Desk, developing the Support practise for Trust Cloud:
- Maintain Trust Cloud systems to latest patches, firmware, and security standards as agreed with business via CAB – including created change requests, attending change board meetings
- Perform updates to all Trust Cloud components as needed, including both software and hardware (i.e. add disks, nodes, new switches)
- Create and document support processes and technotes for Trust Cloud where needed
- Technical (Support) onboarding/transition of new customers
- Assisting customers with queries in relation to support of Trust Cloud systems, and working with vendor support where additional information is required
- Mentor first and second line support teams to enhance operations within the Trust NOC (Some time with the Service Desk will be required for this, hence hybrid role)
- Work with SDM to provide service improvements as needed to managed services for customers
- Work with Service Desk tool to manage calls (where needed)
- Maintain operational and platform documentation
- Configuration of support systems to manage new customers coming onto Trust Cloud, including features such as SNMP, AUVIK, SYSLOG, PRTG etc
