What’s the job?

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate hospitality leader to manage the Ibis Coleraine Riverside Hotel and Sandpiper Bar & Bistro, combining the operational leadership of a busy branded hotel with one of the area's most established restaurant businesses. As General Manager, you will provide leadership and direction across all areas of the hotel and restaurant operation. This is a highly visible, hands-on role where you will spend significant time supporting the restaurant floor, reception, and hotel teams, ensuring exceptional service standards and guest experiences are delivered every day.

We are seeking a General Manager with strong restaurant management experience, ideally gained within a hotel or large-volume restaurant environment. Experience in front office, accommodation operations and branded hotel management will be highly desirable. You will also play a key role in promoting and growing the Sandpiper Restaurant, building its local reputation, and maximising commercial performance.

About The Role

Your day-to-day

Developing your People

  • Develop and implement training and development plans across hotel and restaurant departments
  • Lead by example through a visible management presence, coaching team members on the restaurant floor, reception and throughout the hotel
  • Establish performance and development goals for team members and provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback
  • Build a strong service culture focused on hospitality, cross department teamwork, and accountability
  • Develop succession plans and identify future leaders within the business
  • Monitor and increase team satisfaction through surveys and regular interaction
  • Oversee HR-related actions in accordance with company policies and procedures

Financial Control

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, business plans and sales strategies
  • Drive both hotel and restaurant revenue growth through effective commercial leadership
  • Play an active role in sales, marketing and revenue management to maximise occupancy, average rate and restaurant covers
  • Lead initiatives to increase restaurant sales, guest spend and local market awareness
  • Manage labour, food, beverage and operating costs in line with budget expectations
  • Put controls and initiatives in place to manage costs and deliver agreed profitability targets
  • Ensure the hotel and restaurant assets are maintained to a high standard and prepare maintenance and capital expenditure plans

Guest Experience

  • Be a highly visible presence within the operation, regularly engaging with guests throughout the hotel and restaurant
  • Support restaurant and reception teams during busy periods, ensuring service standards are maintain as per set standards
  • Drive improvements in guest satisfaction, online reputation and brand metrics
  • Ensure compliance with all required Brand standards and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop new Operational initiatives
  • Support HODs to produce and implement SOPs across all operational departments
  • Build strong relationships with regular guests, local businesses and community stakeholders

Responsible Business

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, colleagues and hotel assets
  • Ensure health and safety procedures and regulatory requirements are fully compliant
  • Act as a brand ambassador within the local community to increase awareness of both the hotel and Sandpiper Restaurant
  • Lead local marketing initiatives and community engagement activities that promote the restaurant and hotel
  • Drive team involvement in community organisations and charitable activities
  • Develop and implement environmentally responsible initiatives throughout the business
  • Perform other duties as assigned and serve as Manager on Duty when required

Accountabilities…

This position is the senior management role within the business with overall responsibility for the hotel and restaurant operation. You will receive full training and support from Andras Hotels in learning Ibis Brand standards and systems/tools already in place. You will be expected to lead from the front, maintaining a strong operational presence across all areas of the business while delivering commercial success, developing your team and ensuring guest enjoy their time in Hotel and Restaurant.

Required Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years' General Manager or Operations (F&B Manager experience within a hotel, or hospitality environment
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent communication and guest engagement skills
  • Commercial awareness with experience delivering revenue and profitability targets
  • Hands-on operational leadership style with a willingness to support teams in all areas of the business

Desired Criteria

  • Experience working within a branded hotel environment
  • Knowledge of reception and accommodation operations
  • Revenue management experience
