IBM i RPG Developer - £500/day via Umbrella - Inside IR35 - Initial 3 Month Contract - Remote (Occasional Travel to Gloucester) - SCC Flex Contract
We are seeking an experienced IBM i RPG Developer to support and enhance business-critical applications within a leading Financial Services and Insurance organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an IBM i RPG Developer to work on core IBM i (AS/400) systems, delivering enhancements, resolving issues and supporting ongoing platform evolution.
Your responsibilities as the IBM i RPG Developer:
- Develop, maintain and enhance applications running on IBM i (AS/400) platforms.
- Deliver application enhancements and system improvements aligned to business requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and application defects.
- Analyse requirements and develop robust technical solutions.
- Support core insurance and financial systems critical to business operations.
- Participate in code reviews, testing and release activities.
- Work closely with stakeholders, analysts and support teams.
- Produce technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support integration and modernisation activities where required.

As a successful IBM i RPG Developer, you will have:
- Strong commercial experience with RPG IV, RPG ILE and/or RPG Free Format development.
- Extensive experience working within IBM i (AS/400) environments.
- Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale, business-critical applications.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 for i and CL programming.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
- Experience working within structured development and change management environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable skills:
- Experience within insurance, financial services or other regulated industries.
- Experience integrating IBM i platforms with modern applications and APIs.
- Knowledge of SQL development on IBM i.
- Exposure to application modernisation programmes, Agile delivery and DevOps practices.
