IBM z/OS Legacy Application Technical Assessor

We are seeking a highly experienced IBM z/OS Legacy Application Technical Assessor to undertake an independent assessment of a mature enterprise legacy mainframe application estate.

This engagement is strictly limited to the assessment of legacy mainframe applications.

The assessment does not include any review of the underlying IBM z/OS infrastructure, hardware platform, operating system, networking, storage, security configuration, middleware infrastructure, disaster recovery, performance management, systems programming, or wider enterprise architecture.

Scope of Assessment

The successful consultant will focus exclusively on the application estate, assessing the applications themselves, their structure, dependencies, maintainability, supportability and associated risks.

The environment primarily comprises applications developed in Enterprise COBOL using IBM Db2 for z/OS and IBM MQ. Many applications have remained stable for more than fifteen years with little or no functional change.

The assessment is limited to the legacy application estate and includes:

  • Legacy application structure
  • Application maintainability
  • Application supportability
  • Application dependencies
  • Application technical debt
  • Application documentation
  • Application health
  • Risks associated with ongoing application support and maintenance
  • Application-level recommendations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
