Research Associate for Certification / Kitemark Project on Combatting and Addressing Antisemitism in UK Universities
We are seeking a postdoctoral (or equivalent) social sciences researcher to work directly with the Principal Investigator and the President of the ICPG to provide the research to underpin a certification project for combatting and addressing antisemitism in UK Universities.
The project aims to create a certification or kitemark on combatting and addressing antisemitism for use within universities and across the UK Higher Education (HE) sector. This would follow a similar model to Athena Swan (sex), Race Equality Charter Mark, and other similar systems for LGBT and for disability rights. The two-year project will involve working with stakeholders in focus groups to understand the different models for combatting racism, mapping existing provisions, creating the certification process, and piloting it in 5-10 universities.
The project is hosted by the Intra-Communal Professorial Group (ICPG), a recently formed network of academics dedicated to combatting antisemitism in the UK higher education sector.

The role is fully remote, with occasional meetings in-person in London. Up to a dozen paid trips to universities will be required during the lifetime of the project.
Experience And Requirements
- Postdoctoral or equivalent experience in social science research is required.
- Experience in the field of higher education and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) with a focus on race, ethnicity, and/or nationality.
- Experience in designing and executing research using qualitative methods, including focus groups and surveys.
- Knowledge of anti-racism or anti-discrimination policies, laws, and/or practices – particularly within the HE sector.
- Ability to work within ethical guidelines and maintain high levels of research integrity.
- Experience managing complex projects independently.
- Must have the ability to travel around the UK and to attend occasional in-person meetings in London.

Skills
- High-quality report writing
- Familiarity with the Anglo-Jewish higher education context
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Advanced and demonstrable use of statistical software, such as SPSS

Other Information About The Role
- Working remotely, with regular online meetings and occasion meetings in London.
- Salary: 30-33k depending on experience, standard benefits as required by law.
- Full time, with an option for flexible working.
