We're looking for an experienced ICT Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our 3rd Line Infrastructure Operations team.
The primary focus of this role is providing expert 3rd Line infrastructure support, ensuring the stability, security and performance of our ICT environment. You'll act as a technical escalation point for complex incidents, maintain critical infrastructure and support the delivery of infrastructure projects.
Alongside your operational responsibilities, you'll play a key role in driving automation across the Infrastructure Operations team. You'll identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency and develop automation solutions that enhance the way we deliver IT services.
Please note that this is a permanent role based onsite at our Hoddesdon office.
About the Role
3rd Line Infrastructure Operations
- Provide expert 3rd Line support across the ICT infrastructure estate.
- Act as the escalation point for complex incidents, service requests and technical issues.
- Monitor, maintain and support Microsoft cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
- Perform infrastructure maintenance, upgrades and patching to ensure systems remain secure and compliant.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues, identifying root causes and implementing permanent solutions.
- Support infrastructure projects, technical implementations and service improvements.
- Contribute to major incident management, problem management and continual service improvement.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify repetitive operational tasks and develop automation solutions to improve efficiency.
- Create and maintain automation using PowerShell, Power Automate, Python and other suitable technologies.
- Develop automated deployment, monitoring, reporting and administrative processes.
- Support Infrastructure as Code and configuration management where appropriate.
- Document automation solutions and share knowledge across the wider ICT team.
- Promote automation best practices and continuous improvement.

Collaboration
- Work closely with Service Desk, Infrastructure Operations, Field Services and Project teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring where appropriate.
- Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across the team.
About You
You're an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in 2nd and 3rd Line support. You enjoy troubleshooting complex technical issues, take ownership of problems and are passionate about improving services through automation and continual improvement.
You'll have:
- Demonstrable experience in 2nd and 3rd Line Infrastructure Support.
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Azure and Intune.
- Excellent PowerShell scripting skills, with experience automating operational tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate and/or the Power Platform.
- Experience managing Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Knowledge of endpoint management, device deployment and configuration.
- Experience working within ITIL-based support environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach with a passion for continual improvement.
Desirable Skills
- Python or Bash scripting.
- Microsoft Graph API.
- Azure Automation or Azure Functions.
- Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform or similar).
- Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms.
- Experience supporting virtualisation technologies.
- Knowledge of CI/CD principles and DevOps practices.
- Project delivery experience.
