We’re working with a large UK organisation looking for an ICT Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join its Infrastructure Operations team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced 2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer who wants to move beyond traditional support and take greater ownership of automation, infrastructure improvement and project work.
The role combines hands-on 3rd Line infrastructure support with a strong focus on identifying repetitive processes and automating them across a Microsoft-based environment.
The Role
You’ll act as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues while helping improve how the wider IT function operates through automation and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 3rd Line infrastructure support across cloud and on-premise environments
- Troubleshooting complex incidents and identifying root causes
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server and Intune
- Managing Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID
- Carrying out infrastructure maintenance, upgrades and patching
- Identifying repetitive manual processes that can be automated
- Building automation using PowerShell, Power Automate and other technologies
- Automating deployment, monitoring, reporting and administrative processes
- Supporting infrastructure projects and technical implementations
- Working with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Field Services and Project teams
- Creating technical documentation and sharing knowledge across the wider IT function

What We're Looking For
You don’t necessarily need to tick every box, but you should have a strong Microsoft infrastructure background and a genuine interest in automation.
Key experience includes:
- Strong 2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Support experience
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Microsoft Azure
- Microsoft 365
- Windows Server
- Intune
- Active Directory / Entra ID
- Power Automate and/or wider Power Platform experience
- Endpoint management and device deployment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in an ITIL-based environment
- Ability to take ownership of technical issues and work with stakeholders

Experience with Python, Microsoft Graph API, Azure Automation, Azure Functions, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD or DevOps would be beneficial but isn't essential.
