The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for an ICT Security Analyst to join our ICT Team and help protect the Council’s systems, networks and information from evolving cyber threats.
About The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role at the heart of our cyber security response. You will be the first point of contact for ICT security issues, helping to identify, investigate and respond to threats while improving the controls that protect our technology and data. You will monitor security systems, review emerging risks and work with local and national partners to keep our approach current and effective.
You will help design, implement, maintain and monitor security measures across our systems and networks. You will also keep cyber security documentation and incident response procedures up to date, support regular testing and help deliver practical cyber security awareness and training for employees and Councillors.
Alongside your security responsibilities, you will contribute to the wider ICT service, including Microsoft 365 administration, infrastructure and application updates, network monitoring, user support and service requests. Working within ITIL and change management processes, you will provide clear advice, accurate records and excellent customer service.
Job Accountabilities
- To be the first point of contact for ICT Security issues, co-ordinating the Council’s cyber security response.
- To deliver excellent communications and customer service to all service users, including employees, members and other customers.
- To ensure all members of the ICT team are aware of the Cyber Incident response and escalation process and support the Technical Delivery Manager to regularly test and review these processes.
- To keep abreast of emerging threats, solutions and best practice, working with local and national partners to ensure that the organisation has the most up to date information to protect systems and data.
- To support the Technical Delivery Manager and Head of Digital to design and deliver corporate cyber security training for employees and members.
- To identify, design, implement, maintain and monitor security architecture and other measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
- Operate the service desk tool logging user incidents, problems and service requests.
- Setting up new users on the ICT systems, carrying out “housekeeping” as required.
- Adhere to all ITIL, documentation and change management processes.
- Support users when they encounter problems in the day-to-day usage of IT equipment.
- To ensure all documentation relating to cyber security is up to date and reviewed regularly.
- Support the ICT team with:
- O365 support and administration.
- Regular Infrastructure, System and Application updates/upgrades.
- Application administration.
- User and desktop support.
- Server backup systems, changing tapes and managing the backup schedule.
- File/folder/system restores as required.
- Monitoring, support, maintenance of the network/telephony infrastructure.
- Desktop builds, rebuilds and maintenance.
- To provide out of hours support and monitoring for regular processes and technical support where needed as part of an early/late shift arrangement and on call arrangement.

Experience
To apply, you will have a Level 5 qualification in Cyber Security, or an equivalent level of experience. You will bring experience of managing and supporting security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection, anti-virus, authentication, log management and content filtering, together with a sound understanding of network and operating system security.
The successful candidate will be curious, methodical and proactive, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate technical risks clearly.
