ICT Technician
Contract term: Permanent
Hours: Full time
Salary: £34,000 - £36,000 p.a. depending on experience
This is an exciting opportunity to use your IT skills and play a key role making technology work where it matters most: in the classroom and for the staff who rely on it every day in one of the UK’s leading independent girls’ schools.
At Wimbledon High School, technology plays an important role in supporting teaching, learning and the wider life of the school. We are looking for a practical, approachable and technically confident IT Technician who enjoys solving problems, helping people and making sure that technology is reliable when it is needed.
You will be a trusted point of contact for staff and pupils, responding to technical requests, from hardware and software faults to printing, connectivity and user-access issues. You will investigate problems, find practical solutions and keep users informed throughout. You will also prepare and deploy devices, install approved software, support Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and iOS arrangements, and help ensure that classroom, meeting and presentation technology is ready for use.
Alongside day-to-day support, you will contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the school’s IT environment. Working under the direction of the ICT Operations Manager, you will assist with routine system checks, account administration, security updates, equipment records and the implementation of approved upgrades and new services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
You will bring experience of providing customer-focused IT support, together with a practical understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networks and common applications. You will be comfortable diagnosing and resolving technical issues, supporting a range of devices and explaining solutions clearly to people who may not have a technical background.
A relevant IT qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience is required; with Apple or iOS technology, Microsoft 365, service desk systems or cloud-based services would be an advantage.
