Are you looking for a rewarding role working for an intersectional feminist organisation? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you to join our team as an IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) (Children) at Solace Women's Aid.

We exist to end the harm caused by gender-based violence. Our aim is to prevent violence and abuse, as well as provide services that meet the individual needs of survivors, particularly women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse.

Our core values reflect our history and were developed in consultation with staff and service users. Feminism and intersectionality are key to our work, and we are committed to the principles of being survivor-led, trauma-informed, empowering, diverse, anti-racist and anti-discriminatory.

About The Service

The Bexley SASS team provides advocacy and support to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse living in Bexley. The service provides a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. A key aspect of the role will be to advocate on behalf of service users pursuing remedies through the criminal and civil justice systems.

About The Role

You’ll be an experienced advocate with experience of working with children aged 5 to 13 years who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. You’ll work as part of broader multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with external agencies in your work. In this critical role you’ll provide psychoeducational activities for children and young people. This includes one to one support sessions within a school setting who are identified by professionals as needing additional emotional support. Self Esteem and Confidence, Self-care, Healthy relationships; Keeping Safe and Expressing feelings, are examples of some of the sessions you will have with children and young people.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
