IELTS Course Developer
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled IELTS Course Developer to create a comprehensive, engaging, and results-driven IELTS preparation course from the ground up.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of the development of a complete IELTS learning programme — from course structure and learning pathways through to lesson content, exercises, practice activities, assessments, and supporting materials.
We are looking for someone who understands not only the IELTS exam, but also how to teach the skills required to achieve a target band score.
What You'll Do
You will be responsible for developing a structured IELTS course covering:
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
- Grammar and vocabulary relevant to IELTS
- Exam strategies and techniques
- Time management and test-taking skills
- Band-specific strategies and progression
You will:
- Design the overall course structure and learning journey.
- Develop modules, units, lessons, and learning objectives.
- Create engaging lessons and practical learning activities.
- Develop IELTS-style practice questions and exercises.
- Create model answers and detailed explanations.
- Develop writing and speaking frameworks to help students improve their performance.
- Incorporate the official IELTS assessment criteria and band descriptors into the course.
- Create assessments and progress checks throughout the programme.
- Ensure the course has a logical progression from one stage to the next.
- Review and refine content to ensure a consistently high academic standard.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong IELTS expertise combined with excellent curriculum/course development skills.
You should have:
- Significant experience teaching IELTS and/or developing IELTS courses.
- A strong understanding of the IELTS examination and its assessment criteria.
- Excellent knowledge of the four IELTS components: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- A strong understanding of how students progress between different band levels.
- Experience creating structured educational courses or learning programmes.
- Excellent written English and an ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
- Strong knowledge of English language teaching methodology and pedagogy.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to independently take a course from concept to completion.
Ideally, You Will Also Have

- IELTS examiner experience.
- CELTA, DELTA, TESOL, TEFL, or another relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience developing online or digital learning courses.
- Experience creating educational content at scale.
- Experience working with LMS platforms or online education companies.
- Experience developing courses for students with specific target scores, such as Band 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, or 8.0+.
Deliverables
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a complete, structured IELTS preparation course, including the course framework, lesson content, exercises, practice materials, assessments, model answers, explanations, homework, and supporting resources.
The exact scope and format of the course will be agreed with the successful candidate.
