Based in Newport, South Wales, we are a small but mighty team with a long-standing reputation for high-quality, personal financial planning and wealth management.

About us

Founded over 30 years ago, Heron House is both a Chartered Financial Planning firm and a Chartered Wealth Manager. We provide independent financial planning and investment advice to clients across the UK, taking a personal, bespoke approach designed to stand the test of time.

  • Employee-owned since 2020 and B Corp certified
  • Managing around half a billion pounds for clients across the UK
  • Conducting our own investment research in-house and creating bespoke client portfolios
  • Specialists in ethical and sustainable investments
  • Named Best Financial Advice Firm in Wales for the tenth time in 2024
  • Recognised among the UK’s leading financial advice firms and as a great place to work

The role

You will work closely with our experienced financial planners, providing high-quality technical support throughout the financial planning process. The role will involve research, analysis, report writing and preparation for client meetings, helping the team deliver clear, suitable and well-documented advice.

We are open to candidates at different stages of their career, from someone looking to develop into a paraplanning role through to an experienced paraplanner seeking greater technical responsibility. The role offers variety, structured development and excellent scope for progression, potentially towards Chartered Financial Planner status or a future financial planning role.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist financial planners with preparation for client meetings, including gathering and reviewing relevant information
  • Carry out detailed product, provider, investment and financial planning research
  • Analyze clients’ existing arrangements, objectives and planning needs
  • Prepare clear, accurate and personalised suitability reports and financial planning documents
  • Produce cashflow projections, calculations and supporting technical analysis where required
  • Work with planners and administrators to progress cases efficiently from initial research through to implementation
  • Maintain complete and accurate records in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Keep technical knowledge up to date and contribute to improvements in templates, systems and working practices
  • Support colleagues through knowledge sharing and, where appropriate, checking or mentoring

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
