About the company
A central government financial institution is undertaking a major finance transformation programme driven by the implementation of IFRS 9 and the modernisation of its core systems. Following the replacement of a 20-year-old finance platform with Microsoft Dynamics, the organisation is now developing a new calculation engine for its IFRS 9 models. It combines a public-service purpose with a working environment that includes professionals from government and the wider financial services sector.
About the role
The organisation is seeking an experienced IFRS 9 specialist to support the next phase of a complex finance systems transformation. The role will focus on developing and validating an IFRS 9 solution by reviewing models initially built in Excel and helping to recreate them within the new calculation engine. The specialist will need to understand model inputs and outputs, identify errors, assess whether calculations are producing the expected results and resolve associated data-quality issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

This is a hands-on position requiring detailed knowledge of IFRS 9 calculations rather than purely high-level oversight. Candidates with direct implementation experience are preferred, although those with extensive operational IFRS 9 experience may also be considered. Audit or advisory professionals could be suitable where they can demonstrate substantial scrutiny of IFRS 9 models and practical experience running, interpreting and analysing calculations. The initial engagement is expected to last approximately six months, with the possibility of an extension.
