Contract ILS / Supportability Engineer – Defence (Combat Air)

📍 Bristol (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite)
💰 £75–£77 per hour (Inside IR35)
📅 12-month contract (initial)

Overview

We’re currently supporting a leading defence programme and are looking for an experienced ILS / Supportability Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering critical capability into the Military Air / Combat Air environment.

This role is key to ensuring systems are designed, developed, and maintained with supportability, resilience, and operational readiness at their core.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Supportability Analysis to influence system design and ensure long-term supportability
  • Apply knowledge of Support Solution Development Tools (SSDT)
  • Work in alignment with DEFSTAN 00-600 and S3000L standards
  • Analyse evidence to improve Resilience, Agility, and Preparedness (RAP), particularly during Transition to Conflict (TTC) and conflict scenarios
  • Support the development and optimisation of in-service support solutions, including:
    • Support assurance documentation
    • Obsolescence management
  • Collaborate closely with MOD (DE&S) and industry partners

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in ILS, Supportability Engineering, or a similar discipline
  • Strong knowledge of defence standards (DEFSTAN 00-600 / S3000L)
  • Experience within the Military Air environment (Combat Air highly desirable)
  • Ability to influence design through analytical insight
  • Experience working across MOD and contractor environments
