About MAR Solicitors

MAR Solicitors is a growing, client-focused law firm specialising in immigration, asylum, human rights, litigation and dispute resolution. We are committed to delivering professional, practical and accessible legal services with a strong emphasis on client care.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Immigration Legal Assistant (Consultant) to join our immigration team on a flexible, self-employed consultancy basis.

We are particularly interested in candidates based in Cardiff and the wider South Wales area. However, remote working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate, particularly those with relevant immigration experience and the ability to work independently under appropriate supervision.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in UK immigration law who wishes to develop their client base and career within a supportive and professionally regulated law firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing and submitting UK immigration applications, including family visas, visitor visas, Skilled Worker visas, settlement and nationality applications, within the scope of the candidate's competence and supervision.
  • Take initial client enquiries, obtain instructions and assist with assessing immigration matters.
  • Prepare immigration application forms, supporting documents, client correspondence and straightforward representations.
  • Liaise with clients, the Home Office and relevant third parties.
  • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with the firm's procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor application deadlines and provide regular updates to clients.
  • Identify complex matters requiring referral to a supervising solicitor.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships and develop potential client referrals.
  • Work closely with the firm's immigration solicitors to ensure high standards of legal service and client care.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
