Law Lane Solicitors: Immigration Solicitor
Law Lane Solicitors is seeking an experienced and motivated Immigration Solicitor to join our busy Immigration team at our Stratford office.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of UK immigration matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation to clients. You will be expected to manage your own files, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records and provide a professional and client-focused service.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to develop their immigration practice within an established and growing law firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of immigration matters from initial instruction through to conclusion.
- Provide clear and accurate legal advice to clients on UK immigration law and procedures.
- Handle applications including, where applicable:
- Skilled Worker and other work routes
- Family and Partner applications
- Spouse/Fiancé(e) and dependent applications
- Visit visas
- Student and Graduate routes
- British citizenship and naturalisation
- Indefinite Leave to Remain and settlement
- Further Leave to Remain
- Human rights and Article 8 applications
- Applications involving dependants
- Administrative reviews and appeals
- Asylum and protection matters, where appropriate to experience
- Prepare and submit high-quality applications and supporting documentation.
- Draft representations, witness statements and legal submissions where required.
- Represent clients in relevant hearings, appeals and interviews where appropriate.
- Conduct legal research and keep up to date with changes in immigration legislation, Immigration Rules, Home Office guidance and case law.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive client and case records.
- Ensure all files comply with the firm's internal procedures, SRA requirements and relevant regulatory obligations.
- Meet agreed billing, time recording and case progression targets.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, barristers, interpreters and other relevant professionals.
- Manage client expectations and provide regular updates on case progress.
- Identify risks and escalate complex or sensitive matters to the supervisor where appropriate.
- Assist with departmental development, knowledge sharing and mentoring junior members of the team where required.

Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Qualified solicitor of England and Wales with a valid practising certificate.
- Demonstrable experience in UK immigration law.
- Strong knowledge of the UK Immigration Rules and relevant Home Office procedures.
- Experience managing a caseload independently.
- Excellent drafting, analytical and legal research skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong client-care skills and a professional approach.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team.

Desirable
- Experience in asylum, human rights and/or immigration appeals.
- Experience representing clients at First-tier Tribunal hearings.
- Experience working in a busy private-practice environment.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
- Experience with legal case management systems, particularly LEAP.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm, including a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
- The role is primarily office-based at our Stratford office, with any flexible-working arrangements subject to the firm's policies and business requirements.
