We are currently seeking an experienced Implementation Consultant – Data Migration to support the delivery of complex technology implementation and data transformation projects.
In this role, you will lead and support the migration of data from legacy environments into modern enterprise platforms. You will work closely with customers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional technical teams to understand requirements, define migration specifications, develop mapping and transformation logic, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of migrated data.
The successful candidate will combine strong SQL and data migration expertise with excellent analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills. Experience within pensions, insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.
This opportunity is a full-time, work-from-home opportunity based in UK, initially offered for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize SQL-based solutions supporting data migration, system implementation, and reporting requirements.
- Develop data migration strategies, plans, processes, and supporting documentation.
- Analyse source data and define mapping, transformation, cleansing, reconciliation, and validation rules.
- Perform ETL activities to migrate data accurately and securely between legacy and target systems.
- Develop and maintain automated migration scripts using T-SQL and other relevant technologies.
- Validate migrated data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity.
- Identify migration risks and support the development of appropriate mitigation and remediation plans.
- Gather and document customer requirements, translating business needs into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Configure workflows, data maintenance functions, interfaces, reporting capabilities, and other system features.
- Collaborate with technical, delivery, testing, training, and business teams throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Communicate regularly with customers to obtain clarification, feedback, and approval.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues and optimize SQL queries and database structures to improve performance.
- Support software release and upgrade activities when required.
- Create clear documentation for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support customer training and knowledge-transfer activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable data protection, privacy, information security, version-control, and change-management requirements.
- Manage multiple activities and priorities while consistently meeting project deadlines.
- Build trusted and professional relationships with internal teams, customers, and project stakeholders.

Skills and Experience
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale data migration, system implementation, and data transformation projects.
- Strong expertise in ETL, data mapping, profiling, cleansing, transformation, reconciliation, validation, and data-quality management.
- Advanced SQL and T-SQL, including CTEs, window functions, stored procedures, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio, and relational databases.
- Strong knowledge of database design, data modelling, normalization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience developing migration strategies, automated scripts, impact assessments, risk controls, and cutover plans.
- Skilled in requirements gathering, solution configuration, technical specifications, and customer documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, customer-facing, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, cross-functional collaboration, and Agile delivery.
- Experience within pensions, insurance, financial services, or regulated environments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of UK pensions, Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, and pension calculations is beneficial.
- Exposure to Azure SQL Managed Instance, XML, XSLT, HTML, APIs, interfaces, reporting tools, and scripting languages is desirable.
