We're looking for an immediately available Lawyer to support the Head of Legal/General Counsel of a start-up energy business by providing practical, commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters for a global gas exploration organisation.
This role will initially be offered on an interim (day rate) or fixed-term contract basis. Applicants must have experience in oil & gas or natural resources industry. Ability to work c. 3 days per week on-site in London is essential.
The role will assist with contract interpretation and drafting, company secretarial matters, compliance, governance and day-to-day legal queries, while working collaboratively with colleagues across different jurisdictions, backgrounds and cultures.

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of matters from start to finish, escalating issues to the General Counsel where appropriate.

Essential skills & experience:
- Qualified common-law lawyer with relevant post-qualification experience at a comparable level.
- In-house legal experience, ideally gained within oil and gas, natural resources or another established industrial sector.
- Experience working with, or coordinating legal matters across, foreign jurisdictions.
- Broad legal capability across matters such as company secretarial support, contract interpretation, contract drafting, compliance and general commercial legal advice.
- Confident self-starter who is comfortable engaging with areas outside their specific legal expertise.
