Employment Solicitor Opportunity in Birmingham
An opportunity for an Employment Solicitor in Birmingham to join a FTSE 100 company in a highly influential employment law position. You will provide advice on complex employment matters across the UK and internationally, partnering with senior HR, Legal and business stakeholders.
This is an ideal opportunity for a solicitor with around 6 years PQE or more.

Our client is a FTSE 100 global business based in Birmingham with a growing In-house legal function. Following a significant transformation of its portfolio, the business has entered an exciting new phase focused on becoming a more streamlined, high performance engineering group and they are looking to hire a Employment Solicitor to work closely with the GC.
Description
The In House Employment Solicitor will be:
- Acting as the Group's employment and labour law specialist, providing strategic, commercially focused and risk-based advice.
- Advising Group HR, Legal and senior business stakeholders on complex employment matters and organisational change.
- Providing advice on reorganisations, workforce transformation, consultation processes and executive employment matters.
- Leading employment law workstreams on complex cross-border projects across the Group.
- Supporting material employment disputes, litigation, investigations and sensitive employee matters.
- Advising on employment issues arising from acquisitions, disposals, carve-outs, restructurings and other strategic transactions.
- Supporting employment due diligence, employee consultation, transaction documentation and post-completion integration.
- Developing practical employment policies, guidance and templates while promoting consistent approaches to employment risk.
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments across key jurisdictions and advising senior stakeholders on their impact.
- Working with HR, Reward, Data Protection, Ethics and Compliance and Governance teams on matters including executive reward, DSARs, equal pay transparency and employment-related disclosures.
- Managing external legal advisers and controlling the external legal budget, using internal resources wherever appropriate.
- Delivering training and capability-building initiatives to strengthen employment law knowledge across HR and Legal teams.

Profile
The In House Employment Solicitor should be:
- A solicitor with 6+ years PQE gained In-house or private practice.
- Experienced in UK employment law with the ability to advise on international employment matters.
- Experienced in either a strong in-house environment or a leading private practice employment team.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk against wider business objectives.
- Comfortable advising senior HR, Legal and business stakeholders on complex and sensitive matters.
- Experienced in organisational change, restructurings, workforce transformation and employee relations.
- Ideally experienced in supporting M&A transactions and employment due diligence.
- Experienced in employment disputes, investigations and litigation.
- Comfortable working across multiple jurisdictions and coordinating international legal advice.
- A confident communicator with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders.
- Able to operate autonomously while collaborating effectively across a complex global organisation.
- Pragmatic, solutions-focused and capable of bringing clarity to sensitive or highly complex issues.
