In House Litigation Solicitor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an In House Litigation Solicitor in Sheffield to join a bank on a fixed term basis. You will advise on litigation, disputes, governance and contentious matters while working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with around 4 years PQE or more who is looking to move in house and gain broad commercial exposure within a purpose driven organisation.

Description

The In House Litigation Solicitor will be:

  • Providing legal advice and support on litigation, disputes and potential legal challenges across the organisation.
  • Advising on appropriate governance, escalation and risk management processes.
  • Providing advice on contentious matters within a financial services environment.
  • Working with senior stakeholders and business teams with practical, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Providing legal input to Product, Risk and Compliance, Policy, Strategy, Economics, Finance and Procurement teams.
  • Advising on Freedom of Information requests, including challenges involving the ICO or First Tier Tribunal.
  • Supporting the development of legal knowledge management, training and horizon scanning.
  • Helping to standardise legal documentation, processes and internal know how.
  • Managing and overseeing external legal advisers, ensuring quality, efficiency and value for money.

Profile

The In House Litigation Solicitor should be:

  • A solicitor with 4+ years PQE plus and who is available at short notice.
  • Experienced in litigation, disputes or contentious legal matters.
  • Ideally experienced within an in house financial services, banking or regulated environment.
  • Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
  • Experienced in providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Knowledgeable around governance, risk and escalation processes.
  • Ideally familiar with Freedom of Information matters and challenges involving the ICO or First Tier Tribunal.
  • Confident managing external legal advisers and controlling legal spend.
  • A strong communicator who can build effective relationships across a complex organisation.
  • Commercially minded, collaborative and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.
