In-House Litigation Solicitor / CILEX Practitioner (5+ PQE)
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced In-House Litigation Solicitor or CILEX Practitioner to join its established legal team, providing practical and commercially focused legal support across the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a civil litigator with 5+ years' PQE who is looking to move into, or further develop their career within, an in-house legal environment. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of civil litigation matters, with a particular focus on debt recovery and monetary claims, while working closely with internal stakeholders across the business.
You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your own caseload, provide pragmatic legal advice and play an important role in supporting the organisation's wider operational objectives.
The role offers hybrid working, with 1–2 days per week office-based, and can be based in either Cambridgeshire or Lincolnshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied in-house caseload of civil litigation matters, including pursued and defended claims
- Assessing evidence, prioritising claims and determining appropriate routes to settlement or judgment
- Developing and reviewing case strategies in line with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements
- Representing the organisation at court hearings where required
- Providing practical legal advice to internal stakeholders on debt recovery processes and policy
- Working closely with operational teams to support effective debt recovery activity
- Ensuring cases are progressed efficiently and in accordance with court deadlines and procedures
- Managing competing priorities and providing timely, commercially focused legal advice
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the organisation
- Supporting knowledge sharing and team development where required

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- 5+ years' PQE or equivalent experience as a qualified Solicitor or CILEX Practitioner
- Strong civil litigation experience, particularly in debt recovery and monetary claims
- Good knowledge of County Court proceedings and the Civil Procedure Rules
- Experience managing a caseload independently and working to deadlines
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, including confidence in handling difficult conversations
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- A pragmatic and commercial approach to legal advice
- The ability to work effectively as part of an in-house legal team
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint
- Advocacy and supervision experience would be advantageous
- Experience working within a regulated environment would be beneficial
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous
