Jameson Legal is interested in talking with marine claims lawyers for an in-house role in London.
Our client is looking for a commercially minded Claims Lawyer with significant P&I experience to join their in-house legal team, reporting into the Head of Legal. It is a varied role; you will run a portfolio of high-value and complex claims while also supporting the business on contracts, disputes and day-to-day legal risk.
The role will include:
- Handling P&I, marine liability and hull claims, including cargo damage, collision, crew and personal injury matters
- Running FD&D-style disputes such as unpaid hire, demurrage, performance claims and charterparty breaches
- Assessing case merits, setting reserves and negotiating settlements directly with counterparties and insurers
- Giving clear, practical advice to commercial and operational teams on contract wordings and live fixtures
- Working closely with P&I Clubs, external law firms and surveyors
- Feeding lessons from claims into risk management and loss prevention

We'd like to hear from lawyers with around 4-6 years' experience in marine insurance claims, ideally gained at a P&I Club or in-house, with a strong grasp of maritime law, P&I rules and charterparties. Confident negotiators who can balance legal risk with commercial objectives will do particularly well here.
