Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced In-house Recruiter to join our Recruitment team on a 9-month fixed-term contract, to provide maternity cover.
In this varied, hands-on role, you'll manage recruitment across a range of business functions, including Compliance, Risk, Finance, Marketing, Business Development, Customer Services, and Operations.
Taking ownership of vacancies from briefing through to offer, you'll partner closely with hiring managers to understand their needs, provide market insight, and deliver effective attraction strategies that secure the best talent.
Direct sourcing is central to our recruitment approach at AJ Bell, so you'll be confident proactively identifying and engaging candidates through LinkedIn, headhunting, networking, and other sourcing channels, particularly for specialist and hard-to-fill roles.
As this is a maternity cover role, you’ll join an established and supportive team and we're looking for a recruiter who can quickly get up to speed, confidently manage their own workload, and take full ownership of the end-to-end recruitment process.
What you’ll do:
- Partner with hiring managers to understand their needs and deliver tailored recruitment strategies.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process across a variety of vacancies, from initial briefing to managing offers.
- Advise hiring managers on recruitment strategy, candidate availability, salary expectations, and market conditions.
- Proactively source and approach candidates through LinkedIn, direct search, networking, job boards, and other relevant channels.
- Build strong candidate pipelines and talent pools to support future hiring needs.
- Manage candidate screening, interview preparation, feedback, and offer processes, delivering a positive and personalised candidate experience throughout.
- Support the wider Recruitment team with vacancies during particularly busy periods, including entry-level roles.
- Manage vacancies and candidate activity through our applicant tracking system (ATS), SmartRecruiters.
- Act as an ambassador for AJ Bell and help us continue to build our profile as an employer of choice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
