In-House Solicitor – Residential Development & Affordable Housing
Location: South West - Exeter
Salary: Competitive + excellent benefits
LHH Recruitment Solutions is delighted to be partnering with a FTSE 100 organisation to appoint an In-House Solicitor to join its established Legal Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in residential development, affordable housing or property, who is looking to take the next step in their career within a highly successful and commercially focused organisation.
The successful candidate will join an experienced Legal Team and work closely with colleagues across the wider business, providing pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of property and development matters.
The Role
This role will sit within the organisation's property-focused Legal Team, with a particular emphasis on residential development and affordable housing.
You will advise stakeholders across the business on a varied portfolio of matters, including affordable housing transactions, investor sales, land and property disposals, planning and infrastructure matters.
The role will also involve developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders and providing practical legal support to teams involved in property and development activity.

Key Responsibilities
- Advising on residential development and affordable housing transactions
- Advising on affordable housing sales and transactions involving Registered Providers
- Drafting and negotiating Section 106 agreements
- Advising on infrastructure agreements
- Undertaking property due diligence and reporting on title
- Advising on land and property disposals
- Supporting investor sales and wider residential development transactions
- Providing advice on planning and infrastructure matters
- Working closely with commercial and operational teams to deliver pragmatic legal solutions
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders
- Managing a varied caseload and supporting the wider Legal Team on property matters
About You
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor or fully qualified Chartered Legal Executive with a strong property background.
You may currently be working in private practice or in-house and have experience advising clients within the residential development, housebuilding, affordable housing or wider property sectors.
Experience in some or all of the following would be advantageous:
- Residential development
- Affordable housing
- Registered Providers / Housing Associations
- Section 106 agreements
- Infrastructure agreements
- Property due diligence
- Reporting on title
- Land acquisition and disposal
- Investor sales
- Planning and development matters

You will be commercially minded, pragmatic and confident when dealing with a broad range of stakeholders. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, together with the ability to manage your own workload and provide clear, practical legal advice.
