The Role
Online teaching may be available. Tutors are given a clear outline of what each child needs to work on and are responsible for preparing and delivering effective, individualized sessions.
This is a delivery role - curriculum design is not part of the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Review each child's plan, previous learning and observations before the session.
- Prepare appropriate in-session work, practical resources and homework.
- Deliver targeted teaching and adapt explanations or support where needed.
- Use Montessori materials and practical learning approaches where appropriate; training will be provided.
- Use technology confidently to support engagement, including online quizzes, games and other interactive learning tools.
- Manage up to 4-5 children who may be working on different objectives or levels at the same time.
- Build strong rapport with pupils and develop an understanding of how each child works and learns.
- Encourage independence while knowing when direct tutor support is needed.
- Record concise observations, progress and next steps after each session.

What We Are Looking For
- Experience working with primary-aged children and confidence building positive relationships with them.
- Good knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum, with confidence teaching Maths and/or English.
- Ability to stay organized and manage several pupils working independently within one session.
- Adaptable, reliable and comfortable following an agreed learning plan while using professional judgement in delivery.
- Open to Montessori training and confident using technology as part of teaching.

Safeguarding & Requirements
- Enhanced DBS clearance appropriate for working with children (an existing suitable DBS is welcome; otherwise this will be required before starting).
- Right to work in the UK and satisfactory references.
- Commitment to Acorns Learning Centre safeguarding procedures and staff training.
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience and qualifications. Preparation and observation time form part of the paid working pattern.
