In-Situ Service Coordinator Central Europe

Role Overview

The In-Situ Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, preparing, planning, leading and supporting the execution of in-situ service activities; on-site machining and repair activities for complex and specialized components, with a primary focus on the maritime industry.

The role acts as the key liaison between customers, service engineers, workshops, suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality project execution.

As an In-Situ Service Coordinator Central Europe, you will be part of our Service Unit Central Europe. The role is based from one of the following Central Europe regions:

  • Hamburg, Germany
  • Schiedam, Netherlands
  • Glasgow, Aberdeen or Fareham, United Kingdom
  • Gdansk, Poland

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate international in-situ service assignments from customer request through execution and project closure.
  • Plan and allocate field service engineers, specialists and subcontractors according to project requirements and resource availability.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers, ship owners, shipyards, agents and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of service projects, including scheduling, documentation and logistics arrangements.
  • Coordinate the availability and delivery of spare parts, tools, measuring equipment and materials for global service activities.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure effective communication between customers, field service teams, workshops and administration.
  • Create purchase orders and follow up on deliveries to ensure timely project execution.
  • Support project performance monitoring, including KPIs such as utilisation, work in progress, lead times and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in identifying risks, resolving operational issues and ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Wärtsilä safety requirements, quality standards and applicable ISO processes.

Requirements

  • A vocational qualification, technical degree or equivalent experience within an in-situ technical, industrial or maritime environment.
  • Experience in service coordination, technical support, project coordination or a similar role is considered an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance, repair or field service activities within a technical environment.
  • Ability to understand technical scopes and convert customer requirements into practical service planning.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented way of working.
  • Good English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP, CRM or service management systems.
