I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
You’ll likely have experience in telesales, sales, customer service, lead conversion, or a telephone-based customer role. You’ll enjoy speaking with customers, understanding what they need, and turning warm opportunities into commercial wins.
You don’t need to be from the waste industry, although waste, environmental services, industrial services, or B2B sales experience would be a real advantage. Full training will be provided.
You’ll be someone who:
- enjoys converting warm leads into sales
- is confident speaking to customers over the phone
- can build trust quickly with new customers and decision-makers
- is commercially aware and comfortable discussing pricing, value, and solutions
- can handle objections and negotiate professionally
- works well to targets, KPIs, and deadlines
- is organised, resilient, and proactive with follow-up
- keeps accurate CRM records and manages a sales pipeline well
- has strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
Experience using CRM systems, Microsoft Office, or Microsoft Dynamics would be helpful, but the most important thing is your energy, curiosity, customer focus, and drive to win new business.
When you join Safetykleen, you’ll find a welcoming and inclusive workplace where your voice is heard, your talents are appreciated, and your development is based on merit and performance.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys sales, wants warm leads rather than cold calling, and is looking to build a career in an established and growing environmental services business.
