Sometimes, Learning Starts with Feeling Safe
Before a young person can concentrate on a lesson, they may first need to feel safe in the room.
Before they can accept help, they may need to learn that the adult offering it can be trusted.
And before they can believe in education again, they may need someone who believes in them.
Inspire EHC is looking for an Inclusive Learning Practitioner to join a nurturing specialist education setting in King's Lynn, supporting children and young people aged 5-16 who have experienced trauma, emotional distress, SEMH needs or disruption to their education.
This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity for someone who understands that behaviour often communicates something deeper - and who has the patience and consistency to look beyond it.
Your Role
You'll become a familiar, trusted adult within a young person's school day.
Some pupils may need support to regulate their emotions before they're ready to learn. Others may find relationships, transitions or the expectations of a classroom difficult.
Your role is to meet them where they are and gradually help them move forward.
You'll
- Provide individual and small-group support.
- Build relationships based on trust, consistency and clear boundaries.
- Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation.
- Help pupils re-engage with classroom learning.
- Adapt activities and resources around individual needs.
- Recognise potential triggers and respond calmly when pupils become overwhelmed.
- Encourage positive choices, resilience and independence.
- Help young people recognise their own strengths and progress.
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals.
- Contribute to a joined-up approach around each child's education and wellbeing.

The Person Behind the Job Title
Experience is valuable, but the way you respond to young people is just as important.
We're looking for someone who is calm when situations aren't, consistent when boundaries are tested and curious about what might be driving a young person's behaviour.
Ideally, You'll Have
- Experience supporting children or young people with trauma, SEMH or additional needs.
- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above.
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour-support strategies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, empathy and emotional resilience.
- A genuine desire to help young people reconnect with education.
Experience and qualifications are preferred, but we're particularly interested in people who understand the importance of relationships, consistency and emotional safety when supporting vulnerable young people.
