About Us

The AVOCADO Foundation is a UK charity operating in the UK and overseas. We work to eradicate economic inequalities experienced by young people, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organisations from underrepresented communities.

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Income Generation & Communications Manager who will personally build and close new business, not oversee a strategy from a distance. This role is expected to be out generating relationships, making approaches, and pitching corporate and funder prospects directly, bringing in income themselves alongside a small team.

This is a doing role first and a managing role second. The postholder will own TAF's active new business pipeline personally, from first approach through to signed agreement, while providing day-to-day direction to the Sales & Events Coordinator and the Digital Content, Design & Brand Officer so that events, sales activity, and content directly support that pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Personally identify, approach and secure new corporate partners, funders and commissioners, including cold outreach where needed.
  • Lead first meetings, pitches and proposal development directly, rather than delegating initial contact.
  • Own TAF's active corporate and funder outreach pipeline personally, progressing conversations from first contact through to secured partnership or income.
  • Negotiate terms, sponsorship packages and partnership agreements directly with prospects.
  • Convert TAF's existing warm leads and referral routes into secured income or in-kind partnerships.
  • Represent TAF in person at meetings, events and pitches to build a personal network of funders, corporates and commissioners.
  • Identify opportunities to generate income from TAF's programmes, training, events and HUB offer, developing appropriate offers directly with relevant teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Partnerships & Account Growth

  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing funders and partners, securing repeat and longer-term income.
  • Monitor pipeline strength and conversion against agreed targets, adjusting personal activity where needed to stay on track.
  • Provide regular, practical forecasts and updates to the CEO on pipeline and secured income.

Communications & Brand Support

  • This function exists to support new business activity, not to run in parallel to it.
  • Own messaging and materials that directly support new business conversations, including pitch decks, partnership one-pagers and proposal templates.
  • Direct the Digital Content, Design & Brand Officer on content and campaigns that generate leads, enquiries and pipeline interest.
  • Review and approve external messaging for consistency and brand fit, without needing to author full communications strategy personally.

Team Leadership & Delivery

  • Line manage the Sales & Events Coordinator and the Digital Content, Design & Brand Officer, setting clear, practical objectives tied to pipeline and income delivery.
  • Work directly alongside both direct reports on live deals and campaigns, rather than managing from a distance.
  • Ensure sales, events and content activity are aligned day to day with active new business priorities.

Governance & Standards

  • Ensure new business, partnership and communications activity complies with data protection requirements and relevant ethical standards.
  • Ensure commercial and partnership activity remains consistent with TAF's charitable objectives and organisational values.

Bonus / OTE

Up to 10% annual bonus, payable based on:

  • Delivery against agreed new business income targets, weighted as the primary component
  • Quality and sustainability of income and partnerships secured
  • Achievement of agreed communications and campaign support KPIs

Person Specification

Essential Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Demonstrable personal track record of sourcing and closing new business, partnerships or major gifts, not just managing a team that does.

  • Experience personally negotiating and closing partnership or sponsorship agreements.
  • Confident representing an organisation in person at pitches, networking events and funder meetings.
  • Experience building and personally managing a pipeline of prospects from first contact through to conversion.

  • Comfortable directing content and messaging that supports live sales conversations, without needing to be a communications specialist.

  • Experience managing a small team while remaining hands-on with delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confidence with senior external stakeholders.
