Provide strategic oversight of income generation, fundraising and partnerships as we diversify our income and develop the AVOCADO HUB.
What difference will you make?
The AVOCADO Foundation has identified income diversification and long-term financial resilience as key priorities for the next stage of its development.
The Income Generation, Enterprise & Strategic Partnerships Trustee will help the Board provide effective oversight of fundraising, income generation and strategic partnerships.
Their contribution will support the Board to assess opportunities and risks, strengthen fundraising governance and consider how different income streams can contribute to the organisation’s long-term sustainability.
The role will also support our development of strategic partnerships and the AVOCADO HUB’s income-generation model.
By strengthening Board-level oversight in these areas, this trustee will help The AVOCADO Foundation build a more resilient income base and support the sustainable delivery and growth of our work.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who:
- Has senior experience in fundraising, business development or partnerships within a corporate, nonprofit or multinational setting.
- Is a strategic thinker who can balance risk and opportunity.
- Can build trusted relationships at senior level.
- Can contribute strategically to the development of partnerships and appropriate opportunities for the organisation.
- Can think creatively and strategically and exercise independent judgement.
- Can work effectively and collaboratively as part of a Board.
- Understands, or is willing to understand, the responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
- Is committed to acting in the best interests of The AVOCADO Foundation.
- Has a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Aligns with our values of Integrity, Intelligence, Interaction and Inspiration.
- Ideally has experience of charity fundraising governance.
- May bring lived experience relevant to our mission. We particularly welcome applications from communities currently underrepresented on our Board.

What will you be doing?
Our Board currently comprises six trustees, with two completing their terms in December 2026. We are strengthening and refreshing the Board as The AVOCADO Foundation enters its next stage of growth.
Building long-term financial resilience and a diversified income base is one of our key strategic priorities. We are therefore looking for an Income Generation, Enterprise & Strategic Partnerships Trustee to provide strategic oversight and assurance of our income generation, fundraising compliance and strategic partnerships.

The trustee will:
- Lead the Board’s oversight of fundraising and income-generation strategy.
- Provide assurance that fundraising activity complies with charity law, the Code of Fundraising Practice, data protection and privacy requirements, and our own ethical fundraising, partnerships and due-diligence policies.
- Support the Board to review and approve policies covering donor engagement, sponsorship and partnerships.
- Monitor and report to the Board on the charity’s fundraising and income-generation risk framework.
- Monitor and advise the Board on fundraising and income viability.
- Advise on the business development implications of The AVOCADO Foundation’s strategic plan, including diversification of income streams.
- Support the cultivation of strategic partnerships at Board level alongside the executive team.
During the first 12 months, the trustee will review our fundraising policy suite against the current Code of Fundraising Practice and support Board oversight of the AVOCADO HUB’s income-generation model.
This role is important as we work to create a more diversified and sustainable income base for the organisation.
