Income Officer – Social Housing

Pay: £19.00 per hour PAYE or £25.00 per hour Umbrella
Salary equivalent: Approximately £37,000 per annum
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
Location: Bromsgrove, B60
Travel: Full UK Driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
Compliance: Standard DBS is required.
Experience: Ideal candidate should have court level experience.
Contract: Temporary sickness cover for up to three months with potential to an extension.

We are recruiting an experienced Income Officer to join a well-established social housing provider on a temporary basis, covering staff sickness for up to three months. The role will initially be office-based. Once you are familiar with the organisation’s processes, there may be the opportunity to work from home two to three days per week.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of rent accounts and taking timely action to recover arrears.
  • Contacting customers and agreeing realistic repayment arrangements.
  • Providing advice on benefits, Universal Credit and financial support.
  • Supporting customers to sustain their tenancies.
  • Preparing arrears correspondence, legal notices, witness statements and court documentation.
  • Attending court and supporting or presenting rent-arrears cases at hearings.
  • Undertaking occasional home visits across Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and monitoring repayment arrangements and court orders.
  • Working with Housing, Tenancy Sustainment, Benefits and Finance teams.
  • Using Aareon QL and Mobysoft RentSense to manage and prioritise cases.

About you:

  • Previous income management or rent-arrears experience within social housing.
  • Previous court attendance experience relating to rent-arrears cases.
  • Good knowledge of arrears recovery, pre-action protocols and possession proceedings.
  • Strong customer service, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing a busy and varied caseload.
  • Experience using Aareon QL and Mobysoft RentSense is highly desirable.
  • Able to travel occasionally for home visits and court attendance.
