For almost 70 years, Abbeyfield Living Society has been a leading provider of housing and care for older people across England. Guided by our five core values – Care, Compassion, Community, Integrity and Excellence – we're committed to creating welcoming communities where people can live well and independently.

We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused Income Recovery Officer to join our Customer Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in income management or housing finance who enjoys building positive relationships while helping customers manage their accounts and maintain their tenancies.

About The Role

As an Income Recovery Officer, you'll play a key role in maximising income collection while delivering an outstanding customer experience. You'll manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring rents, service charges and care home fees are collected efficiently, supporting customers to maintain payment arrangements and preventing arrears from escalating.

Working closely with residents, colleagues and external agencies, you'll provide practical solutions, maintain accurate financial records and contribute to achieving Abbeyfield's income collection targets.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing a caseload of customer accounts, proactively preventing and recovering arrears.
  • Supporting customers with payment arrangements and resolving account queries.
  • Processing rent, service charge and care fee payments accurately.
  • Setting up and administering Direct Debits.
  • Reconciling customer accounts and producing regular account statements.
  • Creating and closing customer accounts for new and departing residents.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Building positive relationships with residents, relatives, colleagues and external partners to support tenancy sustainment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
