About you
We are looking for someone with experience of working directly with victims of domestic abuse or a similar client group. You will understand the dynamics and impact of domestic abuse, including risk, safeguarding, trauma and barriers to leaving abusive relationships.
You will be confident working in a fast-paced environment, managing a caseload, completing risk assessments, maintaining accurate records and representing the needs and views of victims at multi-agency meetings.
You will be compassionate, resilient and able to communicate effectively with victims, colleagues and partner agencies. You will also understand the importance of confidentiality, information sharing, data protection and professional boundaries.
SafeLives IDVA advocacy training is desirable, although applicants with relevant experience and a strong commitment to supporting victims of domestic abuse are encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-quality, proactive support to high-risk victims of domestic abuse.
- Identify and assess risk and need using recognised risk assessment tools.
- Develop individual safety plans with victims and support them to access appropriate services.
- Advocate for victims at MARAC, case conferences and other multi-agency meetings.
- Support victims through the criminal justice process, including attending court where required.

- Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring support is tailored to individual needs.

- Contribute to monitoring information and service development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
