No consolidator. No restricted proposition. Proper independent advice.

This is a directly authorised, privately owned financial planning firm in North Leeds that has grown to more than £120m AUM, while staying genuinely independent.

You’ll join on a strong basic of up to c£65,000, inherit existing clients over time and have access to a proven multi-channel approach to generating new business.

There’s also an uncapped bonus structure and a clear framework for increasing your basic salary as your AUM and responsibilities grow.

So the proposition isn’t just about earning more from sales. It’s designed to reward both commercial growth and the quality of the client bank you manage.

Around £10m–£20m of existing AUM is expected to transfer once you’re through supervision and sign-off, so you won’t be starting from zero.

Alongside that, the firm generates leads and enquiries through referrals, professional connections, marketing, content and existing client activity. They still want someone commercially minded, but there is real support and structure behind the growth expectations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The Job

You’ll take responsibility for an established portfolio of clients and provide proper long-term financial planning across areas such as pensions, retirement planning, investments, drawdown and cashflow planning.

There’s strong administration and paraplanning support, but this isn’t a role where advisers sit in a silo. It’s a relatively small, close-knit business, so they want someone who contributes, shares ideas and takes responsibility for the quality of the advice process.

As the team grows, there may also be scope to support and mentor less experienced colleagues.

What You’ll Need

You’ll need at least two years’ experience advising in an independent financial planning environment, so you’re already comfortable with the wider product, platform and investment market.

A paraplanning background would be useful, but isn’t essential.

You’ll also need evidence that you can convert opportunities, grow AUM and build trusted long-term client relationships.

They’re looking for someone commercially minded and ambitious, but also detail-conscious, client-focused and collaborative.

Package

  • Starting salary up to c£65,000
  • Uncapped bonus (expected year one bonus c£15,000)
  • Clear route to increasing basic salary as AUM grows
  • Proven multi-channel lead generation
  • Strong admin and paraplanning support
  • Independent, owner-managed firm

The remuneration model is designed to reward both sides of the job: commercial growth through bonus, and the quality and size of the client bank you manage through progression in basic salary.
